Three Things You Say To Yourself That Will Stop You From Losing Weight
Published: Thu, 03/12/15
Hi ,
It's pretty darn close to spring.
And you know what that means...
People looking to lose weight.
And other things of course. But a lot of plans to
go on that diet. Or start that exercise program.
Good ideas. Weight loss happens when we expend
more calories than we take in.
But truth is...almost everyone you know who decides
to lose weight this time of year will give up on it in
three weeks or less.
Not my rule. Just the way it is.
And the main reason for that is our self-talk.
In other words, the messages we tell ourselves on a
deep level...even if we don't use the actual words.
It's what we do in the T3 Method...adjust our self-talk,
and let the actions go from there.
So let me share three of the most common things we
say to ourselves that hold us back from being trimmer,
healthier and often happier.
1. It's Genetic. My Family Has Always Been Fat.
Lots of people have the idea that because their parents
were heavy, they're doomed to that same fate. And there
could be some truth to it. We have genetic tendencies
toward certain body types.
But so much of what we experience in our family is about
the environment. What we eat, how we move, what we
expect from ourselves and from those around us.
When we move away from our family, we have eternal
choices to change the way we think and feel, and of
course how we behave.
And even if we are prone toward carrying extra weight,
that doesn't mean we have to compare ourselves to
people who tend to be smaller and leaner. All we have
to do is become the best we can be.
2. It's Too Late For Me.
OK...you know there are many, many, many people all
around us who have made major changes to their weight
and health in their "golden years," right?
Seriously! Middle aged folks, senior citizens, even great
grandparents have started running, cycling, kickboxing.
They've got vegan, macrobiotic, paleo...whatever.
They learned how to eat and move better. They learned
how to get happy and excited about what their bodies
can do, no matter how old they are.
And they learned how to enjoy the process. They didn't
need to get everything right all at once. They laughed
at themselves.
And they stopped a pattern of self pity and lying to
themselves. And they may have even cut out some
bad influences along the way!
3. I Don't Deserve To Be Lean.
Very few people will cop to this. No one wants to admit
their self-talk is something that holds them back.
Truth: it's the number one reason why people don't make
progress. And not just in weight loss. In every area!
Business. Careers. Relationships. Everywhere.
Because our self talk creates our choices. And our habits.
Most people try to fix this the other way around. They
think if they change what they eat and how they move
for a little while, their mood will catch up. They'll feel
better because they do different stuff.
So they eat a few less donuts for a little while. And
they take the stairs once or twice instead of the elevator.
And this lasts for a few days. But their self talk speaks
to them...
"Hey, you! You're not supposed to be lean. Knock that off!"
And they go back to the way things were...until back
to school season or New Years Resolution time.
Am I describing you?
Truth: The T3 Method is your way out.
Is it a guarantee? No.
You have to buy into the process.
But the people who are in it now are losing weight.
And getting healthier and stronger.
And making progress in their businesses and careers.
And their relationships.
They're happier...some are happier than they've
ever been before.
That's the culture we run with.
And that's the habits people develop.
Because we kill off the three things people say to
themselves that stop them from losing weight.
And replace it with amazing, loving, strong stuff.

P.S.: Here's a "bonus" thing people say to
themselves that stops them from losing weight...
"I want to be skinny."
A lot of older folks say that. They grew up with
the idea that "skinny" meant good.
Newsflash: Skinny sucks.
Skinny is unhealthy. It makes you stop eating
altogether, which is a really bad idea for losing weight.
Or it makes you eat stuff that doesn't nourish and
enrich you at the cellular and muscular level.
You don't want to be skinny.
You want to be lean, strong and full of energy and love.
We got you covered!
