Debt Fre*e

Published: Sun, 05/10/15

Crazy that I have to put an asterisk in that word,
isn't it ?

I mean, when did not having to pay for something
get such a bad rap that the spam cops would watch
out for it?

Today our daughter Jill graduates from the
University  of Connecticut.

So yes, I am pre-writing this letter the day before.

And yes, she's graduating debt fre*e.

No student loans.

No financial cinderblock tied around her ankle
as she moves on to the next stage of her life.

That part was planned out years ago...practically
as she was born.

And the funny part is that Diane and I were in a
really bad financial place in 1993, when the little
monster came along.

It wasn't until about six years later that we started
to right our financial ship, and then a little bit after
that when the cash flow became really positive and
really fun.

But all along, we both had a vision

We wanted Jill (and Sarah, three years behind) to
start out their adulthoods with all the possibilities in
the world, not held back by crushing debt.

You know what I'm talking about. 30 year olds who
are still living with mom and dad because their loan
payments keep them from that first home.

And all the lifestyle and career restriction that goes
along with it.

We knew what we wanted. And we dug in.
We thought long term.

And then we found the resources to make it happen.

And we built the skills as well.

In our case it turned out to be marketing. We found
some products we could line up behind. We sold them
and we developed a team of people who did the same.

Then Diane became a leader in the home biz training
industry. I became an elite trainer and coach in personal
and professional development.

(Yeah, I don't mind saying that.)

And we strategized.

And the long term plan, which included the occasional
hard choice put us in a great position.

So , I have a question for you...

What's your goal? Do you want freedom
from debt?  Do you want to live a life
of being able to make choices without
worrying about money?

And what's your plan?

Do you intend to work extra shifts on your job?
Will you take a second job?

Will you make stuff in your basement and sell it?

Are you doing what many who get this note are
doing...working as a network or affiliate marketer?

Do you want to be one of those who gets into
positive monthly cash flow, or do you want to
be among the pretenders?

(Hint: in the 16 years we've been at this, we have
never had a month of negative cash flow.)

I'll tell you the one most important thing, and if
you've read pretty much anything I've published
in the last 12 years here, this'll look familiar...

Your NARRATIVE...the story you tell yourself
about yourself is going to determine everything
that happens next.

And that very much includes your business and
career success.

And that may also include whether or not you get
to put your kids through college without debt...

And enjoy the life that comes after.

We've got a bunch of stuff cooking. Diane and I
are whipping up something right now that you
might like to be a part of!

No details yet.

But if you want to be the first kid on your block
to find out, reply back to this email.

Make sure you use the word Freedom in the subject line.

Much Love,
Larry

P.S.: Annoying graduation pictures coming soon.
Yeah...I'm one of those dads!  (wink)
