Why Businesses Fail

Published: Sat, 06/06/15

There are plenty of reasons...and I might
have seen them all yesterday!

And if you run a business of any kind, there's
a good chance this is why your business is
failing...if it is.

I was one of the judges at a business plan
competition yesterday at Quinnipiac University
in Connecticut. Fun stuff. A bunch of young
people pitching their proposals.

It was pretty much what you would expect.
Some were more well thought out than others.
Some were train wrecks, and everything in
between.

But ya know...they're young people! So my
fellow judges and I asked the hard questions,
let up on them when it was clear they were in
over their heads, and just generally had fun.

We kept noticing one thing over and over,
the advertising costs were out of control.

Or more specifically, they were misplaced.

Just about every business plan intended to
advertise on the radio, and through the Internet.

Didn't matter what kind of business it was.
The ice cream parlor, the mobile petting zoo,
everything else...radio and Internet.

No one knew anything about these folks,
because they weren't willing to show themselves.

Look, I buy from people for two reasons...

1. What they have works. It's a match for me.

2. I feel good about them. And I trust them.
(I guess that's three.)

Take a look at what you're promoting now.
If you're reading this, chances are it's something.
You may even be promoting yourself in the
form of a job search or looking for a relationship!

If you sell the same thing many other people are
selling, why would they buy from you instead of
the next person?

Because YOU are accessible. Not your company.
Not your canned sales pitch.

You.

Your confidence. Your sense of play. Your ability
to listen. Even your vulnerability.

None of that comes out when you're using the same
old dumb ass copy.

It's precisely what Diane teaches in The Deep Abyss...
what she's been teaching for years.

And none of that matters until you remove the
mental, emotional, even spiritual blocks to your
power.

That's what I've been doing for years with
HOW TO RECEIVE.

So it's your call...

You can blow a wad on advertising, spam
groups on Facebook and join the crowd of
"Look at me! Look at me!"

Or you can learn how to be the person who
leads by quiet strength, confidence and compassion.

And who helps people feel safe enough to make
their commitment to your product or service...

And to you.

And most importantly, to themselves.

Much Love,
Larry

P.S.: Don't think for a second I'm saying advertising
isn't important. You have to know how to strategically
place your message. There are skills you have to learn
if you're going to penetrate the market of people who
want what you have.

It's when you think the advertising itself is enough
to establish your brand...and yourself that you
give up your power...and the money and fun
that goes along with it.

Learn to carve out your spot in the noise, and
rise above it.

HOW TO RECEIVE is how I lead people
to that place.
