Chew Toys And Monkey Boys

Published: Sun, 02/28/16

Some people are "chew toys."

They are around at the convenience
and pleasure of others.

They're someone's convenience,
instead of priority.

They're willing to let themselves be
used to satisfy the emotional of another,
or even their physical, sexual or financial
desires.

And when they're done with you, you
wind up under the couch. Lost, until
the next chew toy shows up.

Tastes nice, but no substance. Disposable.

Don't be a chew toy.

And some people are "monkey boys."

They're around to work for the one
in charge.

Not as an important, productive member
of an important, productive team.

But as someone who goes out and does
the grunt work.

They're cheap labor. They're disposable.

They're only as good as their next shift.

And when they've outlived they're usefulness,
they're put out to the field, to be replaced
by the next "monkey boy" (or girl).

Don't be a monkey boy.

It doesn't matter how much or how little
you work for.

It doesn't matter how much time you spend
with another person, or group of people.

You are good, smart, whole and right.

Even if you've allowed yourself to be treated
with less dignity than you deserve.

Even if you've been settling for the bottom
of the emotional or financial heap.

Even if you've been acting like a chew toy
or monkey boy.

Today begins your road to recovery, if you like.

To rediscovering your own worth. Your value.

Starting with yourself.

Then in what you'll permit from others.

And making the changes in your life that
reflect your magnificence.

Rise up.

Straighten your back.

Look in the mirror and love what you see,
even if you've let your dignity slip.

Do over. Second chance.

You deserve it.

I'm right here with you.
