I'm typing this sentence, the third and final
presidential debate will start.
The stakes for the country are very high,
and keeping politics out of it (as much
as possible), it's one last chance for the
candidates to show what they're made of.
I'm not going to watch.
When we had Gary Vaynerchuk speak at
our event last April in New Jersey he said
one thing in particular I agreed with...
"Whoever becomes president, I have no intention
of letting determine the course of my business
or my life. I control that."
Truth.
That doesn't mean we shouldn't care. Whoever
the next Commander In Chief is, they'll be making
decisions that affect my kids, and my eventual
grandkids.
But the things that are important to me right now...
Larry is responsible for those.
My business. My career. My relationships. My
physical, emotional and spiritual well being.
And I choose to put my time there.
I'll check out the debate "highlights" tomorrow
at news sources I trust.
And this evening I'll cultivate relationships,
talk with clients and students, plan out the
things that important to me.
Psychologists call it Locus Of Control.
The debate will happen, whether you watch
it or not.
(Insert your name here) is responsible for your
well being.
Not Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump.
Watch if you like.
At every moment, decide where your time is
best used for what's important to you.
And if you don't know what that is, go to a quiet
place and figure that out.
