The Profit Motive
Published: Tue, 12/20/16
you make mo.ney if you're in business.
And it's gonna help you do and feel
better whether you're in business or not.

Yesterday's Facebook status...
If I tell you something I'm offering
is fre.e, it usually means two things...
1. It's VALUE ADDED. In other words,
if you accept it, use it and never take a
further step, you will benefit from using it.
2. There is ALWAYS a sales process. No one
here, or anywhere else is offering fre.e stuff
without the expectation of bringing you into
their sales funnel.
They either want you on their list of readers,
followers, prospects, etc so they can continue
to market to you...or they want an immediate
upgrade from the fre.e thing they offered.
This is how commerce works. Don't be surprised
when free turns into commerce. And don't
automatically discount the value that upgrade
can add to your business or your life.
Makes sense, right?
Enough to get 54 "likes'" seven "loves" and
11 comments at the time I'm typing these words.
One of those comments was this...
Actually I do fre.e stuff on a women forum
to help out women and I dont get anything,
even email addresses in return. I'm giving back
because I have so much.
Touche' Madam!
I've known of this woman for a number of years.
We're not close, but I respect her and her work.
She's taken some really big risks and done some
really good stuff.
And not having access to her bank account, I'm
also guessing she's made a fair amount of money.
She carries herself like she has.
So that's another reason why people will sometimes
give stuff for fre.e...
Because we're operating from a position of strength,
and we want to express our gratitude and balance
our receiving with giving.
We can always be generous and give stuff away.
As long as we're in a position of strength.
You have a responsiblity to be in profit.
That doesn't mean you have to be a business
owner or an entrepreneur.
It's totally possible to be in profit as an investor,
or an employee.
It just means you're conducting your life so that
you have more mon.ey at the end of the month
than you did at the start.
When you aren't, you place yourself under stress.
You place the people around you under stress.
And you aren't in a position to be generous, not
with the grace you'd like to be.
And you are denying your own self-respect.
And yes, I know it's not easy for everyone
to operate their lives at a net profit. There
have been times where my business showed
a profit, but life was showing a loss.
But the profit motive is good, and right, and
helpful to everyone around us.
If you're in a business, don't be embarrassed
about wanting to turn a profit.
That's the best way to serve your customers, and
be a role model for others who are following you.
If you don't know how to turn a profit,
stop pretending you do.
Settle down and learn.
Not just the methods and techniques, but the
mindset and emotional maturity that goes into
the profit motive.
No, not particularly sexy.
But having lots of cash, and being able to give
stuff away...that's sexy!
We're covering this in detail in MIND FLIP.
We start the second week in January.
And whether you're in business or not,
if you pay attention and do what we're doing...
You will own the profit motive.
