Sunday Report: "Golf And Death"
Published: Sun, 02/12/17
I was asked this question...
"What is normal?"
I answered without thinking...
"Golf and Death."
Sometimes the most profound stuff bubbles
up from underneath our consciousness.
Most of us are on the arc of a "normal life."
We're doing things pretty much the way everyone
else does, which means we play by the rules...
unless we feel like we can get away with breaking
them.
In that moment I equated "normal" with
playing golf and dying.
There's nothing wrong with either one, though I've
only played one round of golf in my life. I never did
figure out how not to slice every drive.
There's nothing wrong with normal.
We need it in order to function as a society.
If everyone is off doing their own thing constantly,
with no regard for rules, society breaks down.
We don't know what to expect from anyone else,
or from ourselves.
I spend most of my time being "normal."
And as someone who spent much of his youth
being told I wasn't, it's somewhat of an achievement
to be "normal."
I need to be normal in order to be present for my
students, and clients, and friends and loved ones.
It can't be doing whatever the hell we want,
whenever the hell we want.
But I think you know there's another gear we can
all go to if we want.
Golf is fine. I prefer frisbee in the park.
Movies are fine too. I like lots of movies.
I like adventures. Reaching out across the divide
of individual egos and being there when someone
conquers fear and achieves something they've never
had before.
You don't need my permission to play golf.
You don't need my permission to do anything.
And you're going to die anyway.
The only question is how much living do you
want to do in the meanwhile.
It's your choice.
If you're here, on my subscription list, you were
either looking for more than you had at the time,
or you're still looking.
And if you're reading this, you don't have everything
you want.
I'm just pointing out that many equate normal with
fear based mediocrity.
If that's you, this is your wake up call.
I can help get you out.
Because if you're a marketer, it's impacting
your sales.
If you're a parent, your kids are missing out
on some great experiences.
(That one may be hard to swallow, but kids always
watch what you do, not listen to what you say.)
If you're trying to lose weight or get healthier
or gain muscle, you're probably too attached
to what everyone else thinks.
When you let go of the fear of rejection,
your body creates its own miracles.
If you wait for society's permission to chase your
dream, you'ire gonna keep waiting.
Same with family and friends.
Most of them are invested in keeping you
playing golf and dying without making too
many waves.
So one more time...
You are strong enough, smart enough and
good enough to figure it all out.
There's a lot of stuff you don't know yet.
And that's OK.
You're ready to ask for help.
You're ready to line up with people who
love and support you.
You're ready to give that love, as well
as receive it.
You're ready to be brave.
You're ready to let go of the need to play golf,
even if you don't like it.
You're ready to live. Not die with your greatness
inside you,
There are lots of ways we can help you.
MIND INTENSIVE has always been there.
If you're ready to step up and out, Julie Dwyer
and I are running The Confidence Project in
Detroit on March 18. That's gonna be amazing.
Message me back if that interests you. The sales
page isn't up yet, but you can get a $200.00 Early
Bird discount if you want to move on faith.
You can work with me one on one as well.
And of course you can keep reading my fre*e
stuff and wait to get inspired enough to act on it.
All I'm saying is that your life doesn't have to
be Golf and Death.
Go out and feel something good today.
Much Love,
Larry
