Bears And Coyotes: Your Strength And Success

Published: Sun, 07/16/17

strength? Your courage? Your success?

I took a hike yesterday at a place called Sessions
Woods. It's a State of Connecticut recreation area
not far from my house.

At the beginning of the trail I came across signs
telling me what to do if I ran into a bear or a coyote.

I don't want to run into either one. I've seen both
on my property throughout the years. I was always
glad to be indoors while it happened.

But what if I had run into something that's bigger
than I am? Or stronger? Or more aggressive?

Do I play dead?  Do I play it cool?

Do I turn and run for my life?

I'll give you the answer, just in case you happen
to run into either of them.

For a bear, if you see it and it doesn't see you,
make enough noise so the bear is aware of your
presence. But do not approach it!

If it approaches you, be offensive! Make noise,
wave your arms and throw objects at it.

Black bears rarely attack humans. If you are
attacked, do not play dead. Fight back with
anything available.

Coyotes may exhibit bold behavior around
people, however aggressive behavior toward
people is very rare.

If approached, don't run. Calmly leave the area.

To frighten coyotes, shout, wave your arms and
act aggressive. Throw objects.

The above is from the Connecticut Department
of Environmental Protection. I'm taking their
word for it!

It makes sense, doesn't it?

Now, here's the secret, and your way to
get stronger...

Most of the things you're afraid of really aren't
that interested in you.

The fear is in your mind.

If you confound their expectations by acting
strong and confident - and maybe a little crazy,
they almost always back down.

You can establish yourself as the "alpha" a lot
easier than you think.

Go forward with confidence.

Lose the idea that everyone is out get you.

They aren't. They're too busy taking care
of themselves to worry about you.

Yes, that also goes for your business and
your career.

That's what I'm sharing with the crew in
Release The Hounds. That's one of our sessions.

And with those guys I'm taking it a step further.

You can totally be one of the "Hound Dogs!"

Yes, we already started.

Doesn't matter.
