Not Sexy, But True
Published: Sun, 11/03/19
I put two posts up on Facebook recently.
Here's the first...
"If someone threatens you with disapproval from
other people, get away from them as fast as possible."
It got lots of likes and comments. And I'm sure it's
because everyone can relate to it. Tony Rush, who is
one of the people I most respect in the online space
responded perfectly...
I would have loved to have gotten this advice when
I was a teenager.
As a "preacher's kid", the majority of the advice I got
on "how to live" had little to do with whether something
was objectively right or wrong.
Instead, the common refrain was, "Tony, _____ might
not be wrong...but you have to think about what other people
might think of you if they saw you doing it."
It was possibly the biggest obstacle to becoming a
fully-realized human being I can think of.
Here's the second. It's long, but if you're in a home business
program, or thinking about getting involved in one, please
read all the way through to the end...

NOT SEXY, BUT TRUE...
I would like you to join our home business organization, IF....
Look, we have some great things to sell. Or "share" if you like,
but since we're actually selling them, I prefer to call it what it is.
And for the right person, this could be a really good experience,
both personally and financially. But first things first.
Here's who I DON'T want...
* Someone who doesn't have access to an up front investment...
in our case between $20 and $600, depending on what your
goals are and how quickly you want to make them happen.
If you have no way to make that happen, get your finances
a little more solid first...there's nothing wrong with a job to
get you there.
* Someone who needs to be told exactly what to do, every single
step of the way. Yes, there are step by step directions. But there
are lots of situations that call for a little bit of thought and
imagination of your part. If you are needy to the point where
you can't move without constant hand holding, this isn't the place
for you...and neither is any other home business.
* Someone who is willing to lie, cheat or manipulate people's
emotions in order to bring them in, or sign them up to a high ticket
package that's way beyond their means, but gives them a sense of
belonging and fills a hole in their life.
Yes, I've seen way too much of this.
Now...here's who I DO want...
* Someone who is fun to be around. If we're going to be working with
you (and we are...helping you with the mechanics of the business and
getting your first few sales), we want to enjoy the experience. Heck,
I'm fun and so is my partner! We expect the same from you. Otherwise,
what's the point??? :)
* Someone who has some idea what they want from their home business,
and WHY they want it. No one will keep working on their business just
for money. But they will work for something special that money buys.
Or they will work for a sense of purpose. Or to feel good about what
they're doing. Or for a team they believe in.
* Someone with emotional maturity. Who won't get spooked when
someone says no to their offer. Because they're going to hear "no" a lot.
(By the way, your actual age has very little to do with your emotional
maturity.) And someone who doesn't need an overnight miracle in their
business to stick with it...because that almost never happens.
* Someone who is willing to learn and grow. Or a better way to put it...
someone who is willing to UNLEARN the beliefs and attitudes that got
them looking for a change in their life in the first place...and replace them
with skills and personal qualities that make them attractive.

Yeah...not sexy as a home business pitch. But really...the only one that
makes sense for the long haul.
I've been in this space for more than 20 years. My partner has been in
this space for more than ten years.
We've made money. Lots of it.
None of that matters if you constantly have to sell your soul
to get successful.
And I'm not willing to do things that I know are wrong.
But I still love what I do.
And I love the company I'm working with. Great products that help
people at a fair price.
And a marketing plan that lets you get into profit.
I don't want the wrong people.
If you've read this far, I'm sure you're one of the right ones.

P.S.: My grandfather used to tell me: "When you tell
the truth, you can just say it and forget it. But you always
have to remember a lie."
I've made mistakes, just like everyone else.
But I operate in truth. Now more than ever. It's important to me.
And I want people who feel the same.
