When you drive on a highway or cross a bridge...

 

 

When you call the police or fire department and

they show up...

 

When you eat at a restaurant and don't get

food poisoning...

 

When your kids learn to spell or study algebra....

 

All those things happen because of TAXES. 

Taxes aren't dirty or bad.  They're the agreement

we make with each other to share our resources

for the common good.

Yes, we need to be diligent and make sure our

resources are being used intelligently. 

 

We need to make they aren't being used to 

disempower people by doing too much for them.

But when we stop seeing them as an intrusion

into our lives and rather as something that frees

us to work together more effectively, lots of

good stuff can happen.

What's our favorite game?  Limiting our tax exposure. 

Finding a way to hide our assets. 

Pay as little as possible.

I'm with you...to an extent.  I don't feel like giving

a government more than my share.  Like everyone

else, I'm not wild about every little thing the

government cares to spend my money on.

And by the way the government isn't this monolithic

thing, at least not here in the states.  The federal

government makes choices about if and how to

address the deficit, keep Social Security solvent,

whether or not it should send more troops to

Afghanistan, and ten thousand other decisions. 

 

It's a guarantee they're going to piss off at least 40%

of the population with any choice they make.

Connecticut, where I live has to address its own

deficit issues, not to mention aid to cities,

education spending, and other stuff. 

 

They're in a spitball contest with Massachusetts

about who is going to pay for cleaning up the

Housatonic River.

And Bristol, the city we live in has to decide about

funding for schools, snow removal and that eyesore

downtown where the Centre Mall used to be.

Taxes.  Gotta have them.

Or you can decide to privatize everything.

Of course if you do, you lose the right to make and

enforce the rules we agree to live by. 

 

But that's another story.

I love paying my taxes. 

When I do, it says I have the sense of abundance

to know more is coming.  I don't hang onto every

last dollar for dear life, worrying that no more are

gonna show up.

I pay my income tax, my property tax, my sales tax,

car tax and lots of other kinds of taxes.

I pay my taxes because I have the assets that get

taxed in the first place.

I pay them because I live in a political, legal and

economic system that gives me the chance to use

my skills, my energy, my liberty to create wealth.

I pay my taxes because I know the fire department

will come when my stove goes kerblooey and shoots

flames into the kitchen. 

 

I know if I needed the police, my good buddy

Brad and the rest of the force would show up.

I pay them because I believe in energy exchange. 

 We give. We receive.

When you try and cheat the system, you're

affirming to the Universe you don't believe in

your own ability to manifest.

And the Universe will prove you right. 

You'll live small and scared.

Not to mention the fact that you're making life

tougher on my daughters, and their eventual children.

You're reading this. You have a computer,

or at least access to one.  The system took care of you.

Now play along.

Whether you pay your taxes or not...that's up to you

and the IRS.  This isn't even about taxes. 

It's about ABUNDANCE.

Not the buzzword, catchphrase type that gets thrown

around on Facebook like spare change.

It's the real thing.

Abundance.  Knowing your source is limitless.

Plugging into it.

Every time I've hit a wall (and I've hit plenty)...

every time I got scared because there wasn't enough...

I was able to step back, regroup, and plug into the

Source that brought me here.

Same one that brought you here.

Same one I teach others to tap into.

Abundance.

 

It's not that there's enough for everyone.
(Of course there is)

 

It's that the Source from which it comes is unlimited.

Like the old Doritos commercial:

"Crunch all you want.  We'll make more."


When my students - when anyone - lets go of fear,

greed and habits that keep them poor in money

and spirit, something happens...

They get rich.

They get healthy.

They find peace.

They find love...starting with themselves.

They lose the FEAR of contributing. 

 

They give...and receive.

I love taxes.  I love paying them. 

I recommend you love them too.

Because paying into the system that takes

care of your needs - however imperfectly -

is a form of love to yourself.

And paying into a system that takes care

of the needs of your kids, your parents,

your neighbors, your fellow citizens...

 

THAT is abundance.

Open your heart.

Open your checkbook.

Give.

Pay it back...the blessings you have.
